KAV is a lighting object exploring the tension between containment and release. The name derives from an Old Turkic word describing a hollow, lightweight shell, something that protects, holds, and defines an interior. Translating this idea into light, KAV frames illumination as something restrained rather than diffused, allowing it to escape only through controlled openings.

Translating this idea into light, KAV frames illumination as something restrained rather than diffused, allowing it to escape only through controlled openings.

Constructed using cork, brushed aluminum, and fiber-based materials, the object creates a rhythmic interplay of light and shadow. As the light passes through its layered structure, it transforms the surrounding space into an extension of the object itself. Positioned between sculpture and functional lighting, KAV questions how light can be shaped, directed, and emotionally perceived through material and form.
